“AMGに発注したワンオフモデル"

本個体はAMG G55XXL ゲレンデヴァーゲンと呼ばれ、カタログモデルにはないウルトラロングホイールベースモデルです。AMGメルセデスに直接オーダーされた“ワンオフモデル”となります。

前オーナー様はアファルターバッハのメルセデスAMG本社へ4回も通い、細かな部分にも妥協ないオーダーをされました。そのため、発注から納車までに、2年もかかったほどです。

G55XXLに用いられたウルトラロングホイールベースのプラットホームは、AMGでは1990年代から存在していました。ただ個人ユーザー向けというより、政府や軍の護衛車両として需要があったものです。

全長は通常のロングよりもさらに40cm近く長く、536cmもあります。全オーナー様のこだわりも凄ければ、それに答えるAMG社の仕事振りも素晴らしく、ボディを特注のダブルサンルーフへ対応するためにワンオフ製作しています。

インテリアもフルオーダーで仕上げられ、手の触れる場所にはプラスチックは存在せず、全て上質なレザーで覆われています。中でも圧巻はダイヤモンドキルティングレザーで、運転席の足元から天井にいたるまで贅沢に張られました。色味の違う二色のブラウンレザーとシルバーカーボンが巧みに組み合わせれており、センスよくまとまっています。

シートはCLK用。延ばされた後部座席も左右独立で、とても広々としています。これぞまさに砂漠の王様の乗り物と言っていいでしょう。

エンジンはもちろん、AMGの熟練した職人によって組み上げられました。ガソリンタンク容量も、純正では96ℓのところ、200ℓ仕様へと変更されています。その強大なトルクとパワーを、燃費を気にせず存分に解き放てば、これほどの巨体であっても、そして、たとえ行く道がとてつもない悪路であっても、力強くどこまでも遠くへ走っていくことができることでしょう。

オブシディアンブラックのボディカラーに合わせて、エアロパーツなどは全てブラックアウトされています。ブラバス製フロントグリルが装備され、リアタイヤカバーからもスリーポインティッドスターが無くなった、シンプルで洗練された仕上がりとなっています。
足元にはブラバス製22インチ大径アルミホイールが装着されています。

走行距離、わずかに3000km。内外装共に新車に近いコンディションです。

“Gクラスの歴史"

通称“ゲレンデ”、Gクラス=ゲレンデヴァーゲンは、ベンツ版の“ジープ”というべき存在です(ちなみに、ジープは固有名詞)。本家ジープと同様に、もともとは軍事用など純粋なパーパスビルドツールとして開発されました。79年から、一般向けにも市販。つまり、デビュー後、もうざっと35年以上も経ったモデルというわけです。

モダンな加飾はそこそこに留めて、四角張った基本のスタイルは登場以来、ほとんど変わることがありませんでした。古色蒼然という厳めしい修飾語がいかにもよく似合うスタイルになっています。AMGモデルには、さらに豪気な面構えが与えられていますが、それでもモダンというにはほど遠い雰囲気でしょう。

けれども、この“古いカタチ”は、ただ古いままにそうなっているわけではありません。ノーズと前後のフェンダーを取り去れば、まるでロープウェイのキャビンのような“箱”が浮かび上がってきます。それがそのままボディ構造になっているというわけで、それは現代にも通用する強靭さを誇っているからこそ、そのままの形で使われ続けているのです。

正に扉と呼ぶのがふさわしい平らなドアを開けて、よじ上るようにキャビンの中へ入ります。運転席からの眺めは、ほとんどマイクロバス並。この視界の素晴らしさと、細身で角張ったボディパネルが、困難なオフロードでも威力を発揮するというわけで、そう考えれば、さほど障壁のない一般道での使い勝手に優れることも、容易に想像がつくことでしょう。

もとより頑強な閉断面フレームをもっています。高性能パワートレーンを積んでもびくともしません。AMGモデルとして、高性能パワーユニットを積むにあたり、専用チューンのスポーツサスペンションと大口径ブレーキシステムで対応しました。AMGとしては、55に始まり、63、そしてV12ツインターボの65が用意されていました。

Gクラスのボディバリエーションは、ショートホイールベースの3ドア、同カブリオレ、そしてロングホイールベースの5ドアがありましたが、近年、ロングホイールベース仕様のみが生産されています。

“Customized by AMG"


This G-class is called Geländewagen AMG G55XXL which wheelbase is ultra-stretched. It is a non-catalogue model and a previous owner placed custom order directly to Mercedes-AMG.

The previous owner made four visits to Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach after placing the order. He did not compromise on any small details so it took two years for the car to be finally delivered.

The platform of the ultra-long wheelbase used for G55XXL was available from the late 1990’s at AMG, but the demand was made by military or government for their vehicles and it was not really for a civilian.

The total length is 536cm, approximately 40cm longer than the standard long model. The previous owner’s uncompromising order was very demanding, but the AMG has done very professional job; the body was specially built to be rigid enough to accommodate the double sunroofs.

The interior was fully tailor-made. You can find no plastics anywhere your hands could touch, and all the parts are upholstered with the premium leather. The diamond quilting leather were used generously from the foot space to the roof lining. The skillful combination of two-shades brown leather and silver carbon is very fashionable.

CLK class seats were utilized. The rear seats are independently separated, and luxurious space is provided by the extended wheelbase. This is the vehicle that should be called “the king of the desert”.

The engine was built by the expert artisans of AMG. The standard 96-liter fuel tank is replaced with the impressive 200-liter cell. By fully taking an advantage of the torque and powerful engine, this gigantic vehicle will drive in full force regardless of road condition.

All the aero parts are painted in black to match its body color, obsidian black. While the Brabus front grille is equipped in the fore section, the rear part is finished in a simple but sophisticated manner by installing the tire cover without the three pointed star emblem.
The Brabus 22 -inch aluminum wheels are being wore.

The mileage is only 3000km and it has been kept in a nearly new conditions inside and out.


“History of G-class”

Geländewagen, A.K.A. G-class, is suitable to be called as “Jeep of Mercedes Benz”. Like Jeep, it was originally developed as purpose-built vehicle for military use and it became available on civilian market in 1979. G-class had been around for over 35 years since then.

Its square shaped design has not changed since the release with minimal modernization of decoration. Somewhat antique-looking style of this model was given a powerful appearance, but still it is far from an ordinary modern style.

This antique style is not result of going out of date. If a nose and front-rear fenders are removed, box shape appears and that is the exact shape of body structure.

Driver opens flat door then climes into the cabin. The view from driver’s seat is almost the same as a view from a microbus. This wide view and slime body panel makes it easy to drive on off-road. The same could be expected for a drive on public roads.

It originally has closed cross section frame and remain stable even though it mounts heavy high-performance powertrain. The stability was achieved by tuned suspentions and large-diameter brake system. AMG model started from 55, 63, then to 65 (V12 twin turbo).

Variety of G-class body were 3-door short wheelbase, the same one with cabriolet, and 5-door long wheelbase:, but recently only long wheelbase version has been produced.
